A newly processed real, Blue and Gold macaw skull.
 
Sadly the specimen was unsuitable for taxidermy, so I have had the skull professionally cleaned. This bird died of natural causes and came from an aviary.
 
Please note the lower jaw is not attached and may move. The skull is very fragile.
Some of the keratin on the sheath may be loose, this is normal and a result of the natural shedding in the cleaning process. This is a real skull, not a replica or cast. 
 
When preparing the skulls two main chemicals are used; acetone, which is used to remove fat and grease from the bone and peroxide which is used to soak the bones to remove any staining and to whiten the bones.
 
This is a non-CITES bird and does not require any special paperwork to be sold.
 
Birds, just like humans, have flaws. Some skulls may have defects, holes or cracks as a result of trauma, injury, sickness, age or general fragility. Please look at the photographs closely before making a purchase and if you need further information do not hesitate to contact me.
